The Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems will coordinate the Sustainable Agrifood Systems (SAS) Fellowship to increase research capacity on campus food systems for undergraduate and graduate students at multiple University of California campuses. The SAS opportunity will offer $2,500 & $3,500 Fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students respectively. Following the example of the award winning Green Campus Program, SAS Fellows will research and evaluate education and policy changes in UC campus food system practices. Sponsoring faculty and administrative affiliates may apply to host a Sustainable Agrifood System Fellow(s). Only 5 UC Campuses will be selected this year.

facilitate landscape management approaches that simultaneously enhance food
security, support rural livelihoods and conserve the environment. EP seeks a
Director of Finance to join our committed team at our Washington, DC office by July
1, 2008 or earliest available.

The Director of Finance will:

* Manage accounting and financial matters for the organization
* Manage the annual budget process and prepare timely and accurate financial
statements for the organization
* Provide monthly financial reporting and guidance to program staff
* Be responsible for internal controls and financial policies of the organization
* Support development of funding proposals
* Develop financial procedures manual
* Develop templates for and backstop project managers in financial planning and
monitoring
* Generate donor financial reports
* Oversee payroll, expense reports, and other financial inputs
* Liaise with accounting, audit and other financial consultants.

Required:

* Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or related field
* At least five years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
* Highly organized, with attention to detail; proactive and willing to work in a
fast-paced environment
* Expertise with QuickBooks, Solomon or equivalent accounting software
* Interest in supporting the mission of the organization

Desirable:

* CPA or advanced training in finance, accounting or related field
* Experience in working in international non-profit organizations
* Experience and competence in working in diverse teams;

Salary and benefits:

* $65-75,000/year, depending upon experience;
* Health and retirement benefits, insurance, 20 days vacation, holidays

Partners (EP) seeks a Communications and Outreach Manager to join our committed team
by June 1, 2008, or earliest available.

The Communications & Outreach Manager will:

* Develop and implement an outreach strategy for Ecoagriculture Partners
* Support other staff in program-specific outreach and use of knowledge
management tools
* Edit and produce EP reports, publications and outreach materials
* Develop and manage content for the EP website, and manage and expand the EP
listserv
* Maintain donor database and ommunications with partners and donors, in
collaboration with other staff
* Organize outreach events
* Prepare and distribute press briefings and other media materials
* Raise awareness of ecoagriculture potential and EP activities among diverse
audiences (agriculture, conservation, sustainable development and other sectors)
* Supervise program assistant and interns

Required:

* Excellent English writing and editing skills
* At least five years of relevant experience in communications and outreach
* Bachelor's degree with excellent record
* Relevant experience in outreach through media or public relations
* Highly organized, with attention to detail
* Proactive, flexible and creative

Desirable:

* Fluency in reading and speaking Spanish
* Experience in cross-cultural communications
* Experience and competence in working in diverse teams
* Education and experience in international affairs relevant to ecoagriculture
(e.g., agriculture, conservation, economics, policy, development); MA/Msc
* Experience with strategic planning processes and implementation
* Experience with software related to publishing, graphic design, databases,

The Daane Lab (at U.C. Berkeley's ESPM Department) is seeking a Cal student
to work as a lab helper for summer 2008. This position will assist with two
projects studying insects in agricultural systems. The first project is
designed to identify plants that can provide habitat for beneficial insects
in lettuce fields. The second project is studying interactions among ants,
mealybugs, and other insects in vineyards.

There will be approximately 2-3 days/week of field work, to consist of
collecting plant material into plastic bags, inspecting plants and counting
insects, and setting up experiments. There will be approximately 2-3
days/week of lab work, which will include washing insects off plant material
for counting, maintaining lab insects, and using a microscope to sort and
count the bugs we collect from the field. Applicants should be interested in
ecology and insects, willing to work outside in hot or cool weather, and
attentive to details.

This job is open only to current U.C. Berkeley students, is not compatible
with summer school, and we require that you have a driver's license. The job
is based in Berkeley, with frequent day-long trips to field sites near
Hollister (lettuce) and Napa (vineyards). Students interested in this job
